Quennel Worthy

Music was something that Quennel “Q” Worthy found that he could always depend on.  “In life, people come and go, things change, but music has been and always will be a constant variable in my life, “ he says.

Q began his musical journey playing the clarinet at age 9. At 12, he took interest in the piano, eager to find musical accompaniment to his love of singing.  Q then taught himself the piano by listening to songs that he liked and trying to imitate what he heard.  By 14, he was producing his own work.

While attending High School, Q joined the Gospel Choir shocking everyone with his exceptional gift of music.  During his Freshman Year, he had the privilege of singing for President Bill Clinton with the True Light Choir.  In the summer of 2001, at age 16, Q performed on It’s Showtime at the Apollo, where he won first place.  He moved on more with his producer side of him, creating intro tracks for Hip-Hop and R&B radio stations in Philadelphia.  It wasn’t long before Q was moving on to the next stage of his life, being hired by renowned pianist, composer, arranger and producer Bill Jolly. Along side of Mr. Jolly, he produced many records for musical legends Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.

Knowing that songwriting was always something that he wanted to continue to pursue, Q was working with several people before finding a home at Denise Rich Songs.  Being with Denise Rich Songs since late 2008, Q has already proven his abilities as a songwriter, not only to Denise, but also to the entire music industry.  “Music,” he says.  “This is me.”
